ABOUT US:
The Madison Central High School Band Program has a long history of musical and performance excellence. Since 1990, Madison Central High Schools Band Program has been recognized as one of the top comprehensive band programs in the state of Kentucky. The Madison Central Marching Band has won numerous KMEA District and Regional Championships. During the past sixteen years, the Madison Central Marching Band has participated in the KMEA State Marching Band Finals ten times, winning Class AA Championship in 1989 and winning the Class AAA Championship in 2004. During this same period, the Marching Band has earned a Distinguished Rating at every statewide marching event and has qualified for the State Marching Band Semi-Finals every year. In 2007, in only its second year of AAAAA Competition, the marching band placed 4th in the KMEA State Championships. Since 1994, the marching band has doubled it's membership!
The Madison Central Concert Bands have been equally recognized, consistently earning Distinguished Ratings at KMEA District and State Concert Band Festivals, and receiving national acclaim for their technical proficiency and musical artistry. Due to significant growth, the Madison Central Band Program now consists of two, separate, year-round ensembles: the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band.
In 1990, 2000, 2003 and 2007, the Symphonic Band/Wind Ensemble received invitations to perform at the KMEA State In-Service Conference. The Wind Ensemble annually shares the stage with many of Kentucky’s finest collegiate ensembles. In only it's second year of existence, the Madison Central Wind Ensemble was selected by the Bands of America organization to perform at the National Concert Band Festival held in Indianapolis, Indiana. and is schedule to perform a second time in the Spring of 2010.
In addition to ensemble performing excellence, the Directors of the Madison Central Band strongly encourage individual musical growth. Each year many Madison Central band students are selected to perform in the KMEA District 10-11 All-Regional Honors Band, local university honors groups, and the Kentucky All-State Bands and Orchestras. Madison Alumni can be found at the most prestigious music schools in the nation, including Interlochen and Julliard. In addition, numerous Madison Central student musicians have earned scholarships to both the finest state and national institutions of higher learning in all fields of study!
